If you're looking for the best code editor for programming, Visual Studio Code (VS Code) is a great choice. It's often seen that when you open a file in VS Code, its programming language isn't correctly detected, or you can manually change the language. Many people often have this question—how to change the programming language in Visual Studio Code? Let's walk you through the simple process.
First, open your file in VS Code. In the bottom right, you'll see File Type or Language, such as "Plain Text," "JavaScript," "Python," etc. Click this button to change the language. A list will open with all the language options. From here, you can select your preferred programming language.
If you prefer shortcuts, press Ctrl+K, M (Windows/Linux), or ⌘K, M (Mac). This will open the language picker. This allows you to easily change the language to suit your coding needs.
