The vending machine, a brainchild of VML Netherlands and VML India, brought to life through the craftsmanship of The Other Half, deviates from the traditional idea of instant gratification. Instead, it offers an opportunity for individuals to pause and engage in a mindful break, disrupting the hustle and bustle of daily life.

An Invitation to Pause

  • Located in one of Hyderabad's bustling commercial centers, where time rarely stands still, the installation of the vending machine provides a unique experience. Rather than a quick transaction, it offers a brief, immersive journey designed to remind individuals to take a moment for themselves.
  • According to Gopichandar J, Director of Confectionery, "We live in a culture that increasingly values speed, especially in India, where even our breaks are becoming shorter. With this initiative, we sought to explore whether a small pause could be meaningful—a simple KitKat break, savored in a slightly different manner."

Upon inserting a coin, the Slooowest Vending Machine initiates a leisurely journey for the KitKat, distinct from the typical vending machine experience. Each KitKat traverses through playful scenes inspired by everyday life in India—embarking on a toy train ride, circling through a Ferris wheel, cruising in an iconic truck, floating along a river, and culminating in a festive procession. This gradual progression encourages individuals to slow down, observe, and relish the moment.

"While the average vending machine dispenses a snack in three seconds, ours takes a leisurely journey with no rush at all. Throughout the KitKat's voyage, individuals are encouraged to do something they seldom do anymore: take a break. To observe. To smile.
