Tempest Advertising Shines at IAA Olive Crown Awards 2026

The Impact of Sustainable Advertising Campaigns on Environmental Awareness in India

India's advertising industry is witnessing a significant shift towards addressing the material consequences of immaterial practices. At the recent IAA Olive Crown Awards 2026, Tempest Advertising stood out by winning two prestigious awards in the Press Unreleased category. These awards signify a growing trend where sustainability is being redefined in terms of systems and consumption rather than just sentiment.

One of Tempest Advertising's notable campaigns, titled "AI the Water Demon," won the Gold award. This campaign sheds light on the environmental impact of artificial intelligence, a technology often marketed as seamless and efficient. However, the campaign reveals the hidden truth that AI infrastructure consumes substantial amounts of water, a significant portion of which evaporates. Through this campaign, Tempest Advertising brings attention to the invisible extraction process involved in AI operations, where users' actions prompt data centers to consume water. By making this connection visible, the campaign highlights a crucial gap between digital usage and environmental awareness.

Abhishek Jana, Senior VP & Branch Head of Bangalore, emphasized that the crux of the issue lies in the lack of awareness rather than excessive consumption. He mentioned, "The corrective action lies in creating awareness about the environmental repercussions of utilizing AI."

The team behind the "AI the Water Demon" campaign includes talented individuals such as Copywriter Yesu Muthu, Executive Creative Director (Art) Laxmikant Ameenagad, Sr. Creative Director (Copy) Raghavendra Bhat, Manager-Brand Strategy Zubair Khan, and Senior VP & Branch Head of Bangalore Abhishek Jana.

Tempest Advertising's second award-winning campaign, "Surmai," which received the Silver award, creatively addresses the issue of ongoing depletion. The visual representation of the word "SUR-MAR-GAI" resembling a fish aims to visually communicate the message of the fish's disappearance. This innovative approach not only captures attention but also delivers a powerful environmental message.

Sanjay Shindgikar, VP & Branch Head of Pune, expressed his delight at the campaign's recognition at the IAA Olive Crown Awards 2026. He mentioned, "What began as a spontaneous idea by our copywriter, Deepak, turned into a significant campaign that reflects our team's commitment to purposeful creativity."

The team responsible for the success of the "Surmai" campaign includes Senior Copywriter Deepak Sonavane, Senior Creative Director Sanjay Kamble, Senior Graphic Designer Prashant Ambilgikar, and VP & Branch Head of Pune Sanjay Shindgikar.

These impactful campaigns by Tempest Advertising go beyond mere awareness-raising efforts; they bridge the gap between individual actions and their environmental consequences. By creatively blending storytelling with a strong environmental message, Tempest Advertising sets a commendable example for the advertising industry in 2026 and beyond.
